  • Media Specialist - Mrs. Verley Dotson
       

    Mrs. Verley Dotson, a Kentucky native, received her B. A. degree from Pikeville College (UPike); and, she received both an M. A. in English and an Ed. S. in curriculum and instruction from Virginia Tech. Her media certification studies were completed at East Tennessee State University and Appalachian State University.

    Mrs. Dotson served in various capacities throughout her teaching career prior to moving from Virginia to Georgia: She was an original board of director member for a community based medical center, an industrial development board member, state media specialist of the year, county teacher of the year, and a gifted and talented coordinator. She also taught various Southwest Virginia Community College classes including English composition and children's literature. She was an adjunct project thesis director for a Bluefield College cohort group.

    In addition to serving as GCHS media specialist, Mrs. Dotson works with several school clubs including Tome Society, Tiger Ambassadors, Student of the Month, Beta Club, and Interact Club. The Rotary Club of Greene and Putnam Counties honored Mrs. Dotson with the Paul Harris Fellow award.

    Mrs. Dotson says she continues to enjoy the classics such as Oliver Twist, The Scarlet Letter, and The Raven. However, she also enjoys young adult literature as well as children’s literature and animee.

    For her, each sunrise brings a new and exciting adventure.
